Possibilityism: Embracing the Uncharted

Possibilityism, not to be mistaken as possibilism, is a philosophy that embraces the combinatorics of the universe, largely ignoring ethics and accepting art as an all-encompassing term. All-encompassing is enormously large and includes everything.

Possibilityism uses math to describe a worldly purpose. You can mathematically describe an artwork with each parameter that makes up the artwork—parameters such as the width and height, reds, greens, blues, and alphas, styles, components and tools, general perception of each year before and after its manifestation, themes, and infinite more characteristics, sub-characteristics, and quarks making up a piece. You don’t have to know every parameter to have an intuition of where a piece of art lies in the art vector space. However, with every new piece of data included in the approximation, the closer the artwork’s definition converges with its true value.

Possibilityism is a product of our time, ideas, and inventions. Just like René Descartes with his vacuum tubes and simulation theory, this thought, and mindset is based on a philosophical interpretation of science. Seeing art as vectors is reminiscent of, and borrows from, how LLMs see words as points in space based on parameters. In possibilityism, instead of words, it has everything the mind can think of or materialize. The number of parameters in the possibilityism vector space is infinite, and conceptual; a piece of art's location is never truly possible to fathom.

Curiosity is one of the traits that makes us human, grounding possibilityism in our reality and giving it, as a way of seeing the world, value. With the possibilityism mindset, you may want to avoid sameness in the art of living; being original is key. If every artwork was the same, the only parameter changing would be its count of repetitions.

In hip-hop, a rapper might be looking for four bars that have the most amount of entendres and rhymes at once. With a possibilityism mindset, a rapper might try to craft an omnirhyme with the most amount of syllables possible. With competition in pushing these vectors to their individual extremes, the area encompassing the points the artworks lie will expand and open for new possibilities and beauty in the eyes of a possibilitist.

In the vector space of thought, you can know an infinite number of things while having the vector space not expand. For instance, if you know a fact such as 2+2 is equal to 4 and you truly know that it is true, then you know that you know, that 2+2 is equal to 4. You can keep repeating "that you know that you know" an infinite number of times. Ergo, you know an infinite number of things. because adding "that you know that you know” before a known fact exposes a new fact, however the amount of new knowledge gained, you now know one more fact. This infinite number of facts doesn’t give you straight up knowledge of other branches or subjects such as biology, but it showcases the difference between "infinity" and "everything", while also giving reason to quality over quantity.

In short, possibilityism favors the uncharted.
